It was sad for me to read about tech news blog Gigaom shutting down<\/a> last week. I worked there for six and a half years and it was a tremendous experience — and a lot of that was because I had great collaborators and editors who made my writing better.<\/p>\n

Writing is re-writing, and when you get good notes from people, it makes the creative process that much better for everyone. So here\u2019s a pro tip for teams working on the same document shared in Onehub: use \u201cSuggesting\u201d in Google Docs and track edits directly in your Workspace.<\/p>\n

Switching to Suggesting mode redlines your document, so you can see the exact changes that team members make. Whether it’s removing a word, fixing a typo, or adding a sentence, it\u2019s all there for you to see who made what edits.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how to use Suggesting:<\/p>\n

  1. First, make sure everyone you want working on the document has Collaborator or above permissions<\/a>. This will allow them to make changes.<\/li>\n
  2. From within your Onehub Workspace, select the document you want to work on.<\/li>\n

  3. Click the Edit button in the Onehub toolbar. Onehub automatically opens the document in Google Drive to make it editable.<\/li>\n

  4. Once in the document, click the Mode icon (looks like a pencil) from the right-hand side of the Google Drive toolbar and select \u201cSuggesting.\u201d This will make sure your edits are recorded and visible to everyone else.<\/li>\n

  5. Start editing. Your changes will appear as a different color and will be attributed to you.<\/li>\n

  6. Your collaborators can accept, reject, or make further changes to your edits.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
